Use Plot in VS Code
Add the Plot MCP server to Visual Studio Code so GitHub Copilot can read and update your Plot tasks while you code.
Connect Plot to Visual Studio Code (VS Code) so GitHub Copilot's agent works from your real tasks. Copilot can read a task, update its status, and leave progress comments in Plot.
Before you start
You need:
- VS Code with GitHub Copilot installed and up to date.
- A Plot account with access to the workspace you want to connect.
Add Plot to VS Code
- Open the Command Palette and run MCP: Add Server.
- Select HTTP.
- Enter
https://mcp.plot.app/mcpas the URL andplotas the name. - Choose whether to add it to your user profile or to this workspace.
- When VS Code asks, sign in. In the Plot window, choose your workspace and select Authorize.
To add Plot to one project by hand, create .vscode/mcp.json:
{
"servers": {
"plot": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.plot.app/mcp"
}
}
}What Copilot can do in Plot
Once connected, Copilot can:
- Read a task, its comments, and its project before it starts work.
- Update task status, assignees, labels, and dependencies.
- Leave comments with progress, blockers, and handoff notes.
- Create documents for plans, briefs, and decisions.
